Internationals Software Development Club is a student club where aspiring computer scientists gain hands-on experience building actual products. Its core purpose is to sprout passion for software development and foster a collaborative environment where members can learn, innovate, and grow together. Furthermore, being inspired by the likes of KDE, Gnome and Free Software Foundation, the projects we develop are Free and Open Source and their development can be tracked on our GitHub https://github.com/ISDC-Helsinki.

We’d like to take a moment to reflect on our progress this year, share some photos of our meetings and set out goals for 2025. Since the establishment of our club, we have attracted plenty of students curious about software engineering, and we are happy to announce having gone through all the major aspects of contributing to the project. This goes from learning the technology stack necessary to make code contributions all the way to version control hurdles and business logic. SplitBit, a cost-keeping app for friends and households is shaping up real nice with a native Android and iOS client along with the Web one. The golang-written backend with its OpenApi-backed schema promotes safe and easy way to facilitate server communication.

Since September, our schedule consisted of once a week 3-hour live-coding sessions, and we plan on increasing that volume to accommodate new members and see an increase in the project’s contributions and rate of development. Participating in and running classes is purely voluntary, and we are seeking new tutors for our club to also give them a chance in taking more responsible roles. What’s more is that we have set our sights on new sponsorship opportunities. Nonetheless, we are happy to see the persistent support of the Integralis Student Organization acting as our parent organization and sponsoring our meeting snack expenses.
